     The 2024 “Mighty Band From Lion Land” is under the field direction of drum majors Lesley Boyett, Madalyn Fowler and Lilly Reno. This year, the Foley Marching Band has a membership of over 170 students! Our halftime show is titled, “The Contender.” The Foley Band prides itself in performing shows that are entertaining and competitive, so stand up and show your appreciation to all the Foley Band Students on the field tonight! Our band sponsors are our primary source of funding and support. Please visit our website and visit our local sponsors…tell them you are a Mighty Band From Lion Land Supporter…and “Thank You.”

     The Mighty Band From Lion Land has a long tradition of excellence stemming back to the late 1970’s. The concert, marching bands, and steel bands have earned numerous superior ratings for over 45 years. Past Winter Guard, Winter Drumline, Dance Team and Jazz Bands have earned both Regional and National Championships. Some of the many accolades of the band program include: Opening Ceremonies for the Daytona-500 Race, Bands of America Regional Finalist / National Hall of Fame Bowl / National Peach Bowl Grand Champions / Chicago’s – St. Patrick’s Day Parade / Boscov’s Nationally Televised Thanksgiving Day Parade / Loyola Universities National Invitational Grand Champion / Universal Studios Grand Champion / Fiesta Bowl Parade / National “Grammy Signature” Awarded Band Program…only 100 band programs in the Nation were awarded this very prestigious status / Prestigious member of the Conn - Selmer All-Amercian School Foundations / Commendations from the Alabama State Senate and the President of the United States / 1st Place Parade Band in the Fiesta Flambeaux Parade in San Antonio, TX / most recently the lead parade band at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. In addition, the Foley Steel Band has performed at many city and school board functions as well as weddings and parties, Universal Studios, the Alabama Bandmasters Summer Convention, and the Goombay Festival in Florida. The Foley Band has placed many students in college with scholarships. Some of the Universties include, The University of Alabama, Auburn University, Lousianna State University, The University of West Alabama, Faulkner State University, Mississipp State University Bravard School of Music, Univesity of Tennessee, University of Montevallo, Univerity of Mobile, The Univesity of Southern Mississippi, Ole Miss University, Troy University, and the Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force! 

     The Director of Bands is Mr. David Samuel, and the assistant directors are Jimmy O’Cain, Dr. Michael Roy, Michael Whitaker, Adrian Barrios, and Mary Barnes. The color guard instructors are Olivia Still, Aleia Salter, and McKenzie Gregoson. Our student leaders include Band Captain/Tuba Section Leader –Alexander Beckworth; Drum Line/Front Ensemble –Lysander Van den Nieuwenhof and Cooper Kinkead; Flute Section Leader – Miguel Quintero; Clarinet Section Leaders –  Xavier Murray, Lily Wolf, and Sasha George; Saxophone Section Leader – Thomas Valenzuela; Trumpet Section Leader –  Wyatt Boling; Horn Section Leader - Jacob Bennett; Trombone Section Leaders – Anna Kellerman and Ava Pelot; Baritone Section Leader – Courtney Blackwell;  Guard Flag and Weapon Captains – Sarahbeth Brewer, Cheyenne Cunningham, and Kaitlynn Lowery.
